Bhuvas Nagpal sizzled with one-under 71 to emerge as the overall champion in the 1st Royal Northwoods Junior Golf Championship held last November 25 in Bulacan. Nagpal overpowered Emil Hernandez by eight strokes in the boy’s 10-under category in the well maintained 18 hole course. The tournament was fully sponsored by the Royal Northwoods Golf and Country Club.
Hernandez, however, emerged as the champion in the boy’s 12-and-under division at 80.
First runner-up Scott Ng scored an 82 followed by Vince Tiamsic (82), Santino Pineda (85), and Enzo Cham (86).
Meanwhile, Mikhaella Constantino topped the girl’s 12-under division after scoring three-over 75. Reese Ng came in at second with 78 beating Jody Castillo in a countback. Venice Tiamsic and Celine Abalos checked in at fourth and fifth places with identical 85s, respectively.
In the boy’s 13-18 division, Pierre Ticzon sizzled with even-par 72 to clinch the top honors in his division.
Ticzon subdued Aidric Chan by one stroke, 73, and Jet Hernandez by two, 74, to settle at second and third positions, respectively. Santino Diokno landed fourth with 78 while Miguel Roque scored 80 for fifth honors.
Rianne Malixi pooled a 77 to clinch the girl’s 13-18 crown followed by See Yun Kim with 78.
Second runner-up Kayla Nocum had 85 while Julianna Go was distant at 110 for third runner-up medal.
Ticzon and Malixi paced the tournament to share the lead in the Junior Order of Merit.
The second tranche of the Junior Club Circuit will take place at the Orchard Golf and Country Club on January 20, 2019
The 1st Royal Northwoods Junior Golf Championship was co-organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines and an official ranking event for the JOOM.
