CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION

NOTICE: This is the latest version of the JGFP Conditions of Competition (CoC). Any revisions or updates will be reflected on this page. Players are responsible for checking this page regularly and complying with the most current version.

The JGFP Tournament Policies and General Guidelines, also available on the website, form part of these Conditions of Competition and apply to all players unless otherwise specified.

1. CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION

The 2026–2027 JGFP Interschool Golf Championship is organized and conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP).

The Championship provides student-athletes with the opportunity to represent their schools in a structured nationwide golf competition while promoting sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, and respect for the game.

2. ELIGIBILITY

Players must:

Open to ALL students currently enrolled in a school in Nursery, Kinder 1 & 2, grade levels 1-12 for the school year 2026-2027.
Team Captains are responsible for their team members, concerning age, grade level, and others. Failure to do so will result in DISQUALIFICATION.
The age or grade level of the participant must fall within the stipulated age bracket or grade level as of the last day of the tournament, which is on February 28, 2027
For individual awards in the LOWER SCHOOL DIVISION, the participant shall be grouped by age bracket and grade level, according to their age or grade level, on the last day of the championship.
If it affects the classification of the participant; the player must join the higher grade level if they do not fall into the same category. Breach of this rule will result in the Disqualification of the team.
All players must conform to the Rules of Amateur Status, published by the R&A and USGA, which came into effect on January 1, 2022.
A player can only be allowed to join one team.

All entries will be subject to the approval of the Committee. The Committee reserves the right to accept or refuse, or having accepted, subsequently reject any entry

If the entries fall short or exceed the aforesaid respective numbers, the Committee reserves the right to amend the eligibility requirements and size of the field as they deem fit.

The Tournament Committee may require proof of enrolment, proof of age, or other documents to verify eligibility.

3. ENTRIES & ENTRY FEES

All entries are subject to approval by the Tournament Committee.

Registration for Tournament rounds is conducted weekly and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Notes

Team rate applies only to teams of 5 players.
Each JGFP member on a 5-player team receives a ₱1,000 discount, deducted from the team rate.
Teams with fewer than 5 players will be charged the individual rate per player.
JGFP Member: ₱17,000/player
Non-JGFP Member: ₱18,000/player
All other incidentals, miscellaneous fees, and/or charges imposed by the golf club venue shall be for the player’s account.
There will be no adjusted fees for golf course members.
Entry Fee includes the following: a maximum of 6 rounds of golf and Individual & Team Awards for the winners (refer to Awards Chart)

Entry Fees do not include practice round, caddie fees, consumables, golf cart fees, insurance, gallery fees, or other Host Club charges.

All Entry Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Yardages provided are intended as a general guide only and may vary during the actual tournament due to course availability, course setup, tee marker placement, weather, playing conditions, safety considerations, pace of play, operational requirements, directives from the host club or organizing committee, division adjustments, and any other circumstances deemed necessary by the Tournament Committee. All final yardages and tee placements shall be at the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee.

5. COMPETITION FORMAT

TEAM COMPOSITION

A team to compete in any given round shall comprise a maximum of FIVE (5) student-athletes to represent their school’s golf team.
A player may be allowed to play in a more competitive division, provided that the player signifies their intent before the start of the competition. The player who upgrades their competitive division must play from the designated tee markers of the corresponding Division and must compete in that competitive division for the team and individual honours from the start to the end of the tournament.

Team Captains are allowed to advise their team members. Team Captain for the day must be declared upon registration.
The team scores for each round shall be the aggregate Stableford points garnered by 2 out of 5 players for LS and 3 out of 5 players for MS, JHS & SHS in the school golf team. If only 2 players for lower school and 3 players for LS, MS, JHS & SHS can represent the team for the round, the aggregate score of the 2 or 3 players shall count as the team’s score.
The accumulated points of the 4 best rounds out of the scheduled games shall be the School Golf Team’s score for the series.

INDIVIDUAL

The accumulated points of the player’s 4 best rounds out of the scheduled games shall be his/her score for the tournament series.
A player may be allowed to play in a higher division/level, provided that the player signifies their intent before the start of the competition.
The player who adjusts division/level must play from the designated tee markers of the corresponding Division and must compete in that division/level for the team and individual honours from the start to the end of the competition.

All divisions (I, II and III) will play a maximum of six (6) rounds of 18-hole stroke play, wherein the best four (4) rounds of accumulated points will decide the team and individual rank/position.
Modified Stableford Scoring System
The Modified Stableford Point System shall be used in computing the scores in this competition, where corresponding points are earned as shown below:

Team and Individual Competitions run simultaneously
Team categories may be adjusted depending on the total number of entries.
The Inter-school tournament is a MIXED tournament.
A team may be composed of all boys, all girls, or a combination of both boys and girls. All schools, regardless of gender, will be competing against each other.
A team that fields an incomplete lineup will still be counted as a round played.
The final decision on team placements shall rest with the Tournament Committee. While scores will be a major factor in the evaluation, other considerations—including skill level, team composition, and overall team balance—will also be considered to ensure fairness and competitiveness across all Divisions.
However, in the event that the team has a valid reason, adjustments may be made under the discretion of the Tournament Committee

6. TOURNAMENT PROCEDURES

Weekly Sign-Up for Teams and Individual Players

To provide flexibility throughout the season, multiple playing dates will be scheduled for each division, allowing teams and individual players to complete their required six (6) tournament rounds. The available playing dates will be announced in advance and communicated to Team Captains /Individuals for team/individual entries through the official Viber group/channels
Registration for each playing date will open on Mondays preceding the scheduled tournament date. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the available slots are filled.
Registration once confirmed and beyond 3 days prior to the event will not be Cancellable and will be counted as a played round with zero as the counting score.
Registration for an event where at least 3 players for Middle School, Junior High and Senior High and 2 players for LS will be counted as 1 of the 6 events counting for the team event.
It is the responsibility of each Team Captain and Individual Player to monitor all announcements, observe registration deadlines, and secure their preferred playing date within the allotted sign-up period.
Teams and individual players are solely responsible for completing their required tournament rounds using the official playing dates provided by the Tournament Organizers. A team’s or player’s failure to complete the required number of rounds due to late registration, failure to secure a slot, scheduling conflicts, or any other reason shall not constitute grounds for additional playing opportunities.

The Tournament Organizers are under no obligation to provide additional playing dates, extend deadlines, or schedule extra rounds to accommodate teams or players who fail to complete their required rounds within the official schedule

Weekly registration opens every Monday.
Registration is first-come, first-served.
Practice rounds are arranged directly with the Host Club.
Teams and players are responsible for completing all required Tournament rounds.
Official announcements will be issued through JGFP’s designated communication channels.

7. DRAW, STARTING TIMES, PACE OF PLAY & TIES

The Draw/Pairings will be made available approximately 24 hours before the start of the tournament day based on the names submitted by the Team Captains/Individuals to the Committee
Pairing requests will not be entertained.
Players must report to the starting area on time.
Players arriving late may join their group but receive zero (0) Stableford points for holes missed.
Players are expected to maintain pace with the group ahead.
Maximum time per stroke is 40 seconds (subject to the Pace of Play Policy).

PACE OF PLAY

Each hole has been given a maximum completion time based on the length and difficulty of the hole. The maximum allotted time for completion of 18 holes will be available before the round.
The maximum allowed time allocated per shot is 40 seconds. The timing will start when the player has had sufficient time to reach his ball, it is his turn to play, and he can play without interference or distraction.
However, an extra 10 seconds is allowed for the first player to play:
Tee shot on a par 3 hole.
Second shot on par 4’s and par 5’s.
From on or near the putting green at any hole.
The timing will start when it is the player’s turn to play and there is no interference or distraction.
Penalty for Breach of Condition:
1 bad time: The player will be warned by the referee and informed that further misconduct will result in a penalty.
2 bad times: Penalty of one (1) Stroke
3 bad times: Further penalty of two (2) strokes.
4 bad times: Disqualification

TIES

All ties at the end of the competition for team and individual scores shall be decided via the points earned on their last 18-hole round. If still tied, the last 9 holes, then the last 6 holes, and the last 3 holes. If still tied, the winner shall be decided via a coin toss.

8. CADDIES & GOLF CARTS

Personal Caddies are allowed in ALL grade levels.
Lower School – PARENT CADDIE ALLOWED.
Middle School/Junior High/Senior High- Parents NOT allowed to caddie.
Host Club caddies remain mandatory where required.

Golf Carts

Subject to Host Club availability.
The use of golf carts may vary from course to course due to limited availability. The availability of golf carts is not guaranteed.
Golf Carts may be used if the host venue can accommodate all per Division.
ONLY club caddies are allowed to drive golf carts in all divisions.
Cart Sharing Policy – Cart sharing is mandatory for all players. If the player assigned to share a cart is absent, withdraws, or becomes a no-show, the remaining player will be responsible for paying the full cart fee.

These policies are necessary to comply with course operations, cart allocation requirements, and tournament logistics. By registering, players acknowledge and accept these arrangements.

Priority for golf cart distribution, in this order: Players, Tournament Referees, Team Captains, or designated Team Captain for the day.
Everyone is expected to walk unless the club can provide carts for the whole Division.
Players must ride their assigned carts only.
Spectators are NOT allowed to ride players’ carts, and vice versa
Players and spectators shall always abide by the Committee’s adopted daily rules or instructions for the use of golf carts.
Junior and Senior High School (Division 1) players are expected to walk unless carts are available.

9. PLAYER, PARENT & SPECTATOR CONDUCT

All participants are expected to demonstrate honesty, integrity, courtesy, and sportsmanship.

Parents, coaches, Team Captains, and spectators shall not:

give advice during play;
interfere with play;
carry a player’s equipment where prohibited;
enter Rules discussions; or
behave in a manner that disrupts the Tournament.

The Tournament Committee may impose disciplinary action for misconduct.

10. WEATHER

In the event of a typhoon or torrential rain on the scheduled round, games may be cancelled following storm signal warnings from the Philippine Atmospheric & Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In the absence of any announcement from PAGASA, the tournament director will have the authority to cancel a round. The round may or may not be replaced. The JGFP secretariat shall inform and coordinate with all team captains/individuals via different messaging channels to disseminate the information.

11. AWARDS

Awards are presented to:

Top 5 School Teams (in each Competition Division)
Top 5 Individual Players (in each gender and each Competition Division, Lower School is divided into 2 age brackets)
JGFP reserves the right to introduce additional awards at any time during the season, as deemed appropriate based on participation, number of players, competitive circumstances, sponsorship, or other factors determined by the Tournament Committee.

11. TOURNAMENT ADMINISTRATION

The Committee is responsible for Tournament administration, interpretation of the rules, eligibility, scheduling, scoring, disciplinary matters, awards, and all other matters relating to the conduct of the Tournament.

Play will be governed by the 2019 R&A Rules, Ltd., and the local rules of the host golf club.
All disputes on rules shall be heard by the tournament committee and settled by the tournament director, whose decision in all matters shall be final.

DISPUTE OR DOUBTS AS TO PROCEDURE

If there is a doubt as to the correct procedures, players are to refer to the Tournament Referees.
Suppose a Tournament Referee is not immediately available. In that case, a player (having notified his marker) may elect to play two balls by Rule 20.1c and obtain a ruling after the round, before signing and the return of the score card.
No spectators are to enter any discussion on a matter under dispute.

The Tournament Committee will be responsible for the administration of the competition.
The Tournament Rules Officials/Referees’ decision on all matters about the Rules of Golf is final.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to amend the rules and regulations during the duration of the tournament for the best interest of the tournament.

Read the Local Rules before every Tournament round.
Monitor official JGFP communication channels regularly.
Book practice rounds directly with the Host Club.
Respect fellow competitors, Tournament Officials, volunteers, and Host Club staff.
Play in the spirit of the game.
