RAMOS, DUQUE TAKE EARLY IMG ACADEMY JUNIOR WORLD QUALIFIER LEAD

Sean Jean Ramos bucked the tough and windy course conditions with his gutsy three-over par 75 and seized a five-stroke lead at the opening day of the 2020 IMG Academy Junior World Qualifiers held on Saturday at the Norman Course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Cavite.
The Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist, Ramos posted a 38-37 showing to open his campaign on the hope to duplicate his appearance in the IMG Junior World Championships slated in July.
Ramos was followed by Jet Hernandez with his 80, banking on rounds of 39 and 41, in the Boys’ 15-18 division. Santino Diokno is in the third position with 81.
Faustina Laurea Duque is in command of control in the Girls’ 15-18 by posting a 77 followed by Burberry Zhang at 81 and Mafy Singson at 83.
Meanwhile, Zachary Castro shot a five-over-77 to take the lead in the Boys 13-14. Sean Young was one stroke behind Castro with his 78 while Matthew Miguel Fabiala had 81.
Grace Pauline Quintanilla arranged an opening day score of 82 to lead by three over Alethea Paige Gaccio’s 85 and Kiara Therese Montebon’s 86.
The 54-hole stroke play competition for Class A and B will determine the country’s representative to the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, California on July 6 to 10.
On the other hand, Classes C to F will take place simultaneously next week at the Club Intramuros and Riviera Sports Club.
