AUNZO BAGS TOP HONORS IN JGFP CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP CIRCUIT OPENER

The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines kicked off its new season with the Royal Northwoods Junior Golf Championship last November 24 in Bulacan.

Cedric Aunzo finished with 74 to snare the overall crown in the inaugural leg.

Santino Diokno, meanwhile, led the 13 to 18 years old division after scoring a 75 and was followed by Pierre Ticzon, who finished with 76 to land at second position.

Sean Young posted a 79 for third place while Riggs Illescas and Rald Arthur Sarmiento made an 80 and 82 to settle at fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Celine Abalos seized an eight-point victory by scoring a 77 against Armand Copok, who whad an 85 in the 12-under category.

Venice Tiamsic, Gabie Rosca, and Alessandra Luciano grabbed the 3-4-5 slots after playing 87, 88, 89, respectively.

Copok, on the other hand, topped the 10-below boys’ with his 85 followed by Rajah Crisostomo (92) and Simon Encarnacion (104). Abalos took the girls’ side at 77 with Luciano placing second and Stevie Umali at third (91).

Juan Escano won via countback over Zach Villaroman after both players had identical 96s in the 11-12 category. Rocco Pineda landed at third with 106.

Venice Tiamsic grabbed the gold in the girls’ 11-12 with her 87 followed by Rosca and Reese Ng (89).

Sean Young (79) blasted Santino Pineda (83) to claim the 13-14 crown while Dominic Villamor finished with 88 for third place.

Mikhaella Constantino had 93 to top the girls’ 13-14 followed by Stefanie Encarnacion with 97.

Aunzo ruled the 15-18 division with Diokno and Ticzon enjoying the second and third places with 75 and 76, respectively.

Sofia Encarnacion won the girls’ 15-18 with her 79 while Burberry Zhang scored 89 followed by Julianna Go with 117.

The tournament is the first for the new season of the JGFP calendar and is a duly ranking event of the Junior Order of Merit, which classifies player using the Score-Based System.
