MANILA SOUTHWOODS BAGS 2019 PAL-JGFP INTERCLUB CROWN

Manila Southwoods flexed its muscle by dominating the centerpiece division in the 2019 PAL-JGFP Junior Interclub Golf Championship held last March 29 to 31 at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias, Cavite.
The Carmona-based squad captured the overall crown in the Championship’s Division 1 (13-18 years old) by scoring a 407-aggregate.
Composed of Mariel Tee, Josh Jorge, Masaichi Otake and Sean Ramos, the Southwoods team bested The Country Club (TCC) led by Maria Rafaella Singson, Samantha Dizon, Eagle Ace Superal, and Arnie Taguines, who scored a 404.
The Junior Golfers League (TJGL), made up of Tae Won Ha, Sean Granada, Taehoon Kim, and Kirk Dela Torre, landed at third spot with 384 in the tournament backed by title sponsor Philippine Airlines, Ayala Land, and Asia Brewery.
Wack Wack also made its presence felt in the competition by dominating the second division (9-12 years old) and retaining its title in the third division (8 years old and below).
Wack Wack copped the championship trophy in Division II by scoring a 438, through the efforts of Rianne Malixi, Celine Abalos, Geoffrey Tan, and Chonpansa Tawinsang. They defeated Team International by 40 points with Kwon Minseo, Jeong Yeahyun, Jody Castillo, and Dylan Castillo taking the charge. Second runner-up Manila Southwoods banked on Vince Tiamsic, Anya Cedo, Reese Ng, and Shin Suzuki to finish with 390.
Division III was again dominated by another team from Wack Wack composed of Francesca Nicole Gan, Inno Miguel Flores, Wirada Tawinsang, and Phannaphisar Kiatphonsiri at 441.
Orchard produced 356 from Mona Sarines, Lisa Sarines, Jacob Gomez and Vito Sarines followed by Manila Southwoods at third with 341 coming from Kyle Ng, Andres Dancel, Andie Ng, and Sean Ng.
Founders Division I winner Orchard got a level of 415 posted by Joaquin Gomez, Graeme Tamayo, Tae Soo Kim and Francis Lanuza.
David Guangko, Miguel Ilas, Jet Sander Ang, and Jeff Jung powered the Manila Southwoods at second with 402 while Dayun Kang, Achim Yu, Sean Young, and Dominic Villamor teamed up for Team International at third place with 367.
Team Marianas from Guam punched in a 348 while Manila Southwoods and Orchard carded 342 and 339 in Division II of Founders, respectively.
TJGL team composed of Joseph Bernos, Dustin Recto and Ahn Chan was the lone winner in the Founder’s third division with 206.
The annual tournament attracted 182 participants across 13 clubs including Aguinaldo Golf Club, Alabang Country Club, Del Monte Golf Club, Pueblo De Oro, Negros Occidental Golf, Team International, Team Marianas, The Country Club, Orchard, The Junior Golfers League, Manila Southwoods, Valley Golf and Wack Wack.
Meanwhile, Manila Southwoods’ Masaichi Otake and Maria Rafaella Singson of The Country Club (TCC) clinched the individual top honors.
Otake sizzled with 144 to beat Edward Lee (142) of Marianas and Josh Jorge (138) of Manila Southwoods to land at second and third places in the boys’ 15 to 18 division, respectively.
The girl’s side was won by Singson after scoring a 130 against Mariel Tee of Manila Southwoods and Martina Miñoza of Del Monte, who both finished with identical 123s.
Other winners include Miguel Ilas of Manila Southwoods (boys’ 13-14), Eagle Ace Superal of TCC (girls’ 13-14), Dylan Castillo of Team International (boys’ 11-12), Rianne Malixi of Wack Wack (girls 11-12), Shin Suzuki of Manila Southwoods (boys’ 9-10), Chonpansa Tawinsang of Wack Wack (girls’ 9-10), Kyle Ng of Manila Southwoods (boys’ 7-8), Wirada Tawinsang of Wack Wack (girls’ 7-8), and Vito Sarines of Orchard (boys’ 6-under).
