DAYUN TOPS ORCHARD JUNGOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

​Dayun Kang capped the Orchard Junior Golf Championship in a flourishing manner as she won the overall title last January 27 at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

Kang registered two-over par 74 to clinch the top honors and improved her merit standing in the Junior Order of Merit (JOOM) race.

Meanwhile, Josh Jorge led the Top 5 players in the Boy’s 13 to 18 by winning via countback against Kim Tae Soo at 75. MasaichiOtake took the third spot with 76 followed by Sean Jean Ramos and Zachary Castro, who both had 77.

Leading the top jun​​glfers in the Girl’s 13-18 was Sofia Chabon, who was four strokes ahead of Sunshine Zhang at 81. Laia Barro landed at third with 83 while Jody Castillo and Buena Sabrina Macatangay had 91 and 110 to finish at fourth and fifth, respectively.

Scott Nicholas Ng flared his skills in the Boy’s 12-under division, carding 81 to best Emil Hernandez by one at 82. Vince Tiamsic had 83 to settle at third while Santino Pineda won via countback over BhuvasNagpas with 84.

In the Girl’s 12-under, Venice Tiamsic overpowered Stevie Umali in a countback after both players scored an 80. Same with Coco Ong, who won via CB against Reese Ng at 84. Yeaheun Jeong sizzled with 86 for fifth-place.

Besides the Orchard Junior Golf plum, the JGFP also recognized outstanding players through the JGFP Honors.

Topping the awardees were Venice Tiamsic (first place), Stevie Umali (second) and Coco Ong (third) in the Girl’s 10-under; Reese Ng, Yeaheun Jeong and Minseo Kwon in Girl’s11-12; Burberry Zhang, Jody Castillo, and Sabrina Macatangay in Girl’s 13-14; and Kang Dayun, Sofia Chabon and Laia Barro in Girl’s 15-18.

In the boy’s side, the medallion awardees were Scott Ng, Emil Hernandez, and Raphael Leonio (Boy’s 10-under); Vince Tiamsic, Santi Pineda, and Bhuvas Nagpal (Boy’s 11-12); Tae Soo Kim, Zachary Castro, and Jet Hernandez (Boy’s 13-14); and Josh Jorge, Masaichi Otake, and Sean Jean Ramos (Boy’s 15-18).

The Orchard Junior Golf Championship is the fourth-ranking event of JOOM, which rank players using the Score-Based System.

JOOM season covers tournament started last November 1 and will run until October 31 of this year.

JGFP is a non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and development of junior golf in the country in order to create a competitive and fun environment, and help these players develop their skills and positively builds their character.
