The International Schools Team dominated the 2019 Directors Cup with 17 points to beat Philippine Schools by seven last January 12 to 13 at the Southlinks Golf Club in Las Pinas City.
International School jungolfers showed their dominance on the green after scoring seven against two of the Philippine Schools in the opening round. Led by Jet Hernandez, teammates Liam Harvey, Santino Diokno, Santino Pineda, Sean Young, Joachim Yu, Rho Hyun Ho, Burberry Zang, Reese Ng, Gabie Rosca, Bhuvas Nagpal, Rocco Pineda, Stevie Umali, and Armand Copok produced points for the Internationals during the first round two-man scramble match play.
Meanwhile, only Philippine Schools skipper Aidric Chan, teammates Coby Rolida, Jamina Uttohm and Ice Miravite have scored for the team on Day 1 of the culminating event of 2018 Interschool Golf Championship.
In the second round singles matchplay, Team Philippines captain Chan defeated his counterpart Hernandez but was not enough to tow his team into victory.
The International Schools hold off their rival and soared higher to claim the coveted crown with 17 points against the total 10 points of Philippine Schools.
Thirty-six junior golfers participated in the tournament with no associated fees. Other participating International School jungolfers were Carlo Villaroman, Kishan Babuji, Preston Doll and Rianne Malixi while Philippine School players were Marc Corrales, Riggs Illescas, Rico See, Jet Ang, Dylan Castillo, Vince Tiamsic, Miggy Roque, Jose Rico, Joaquin Arenas, Jaime Alabastro, Celine Abalos, Venice Tiamsic, Rafael Leonio, and Zach Villaroman.
The event was backed by Decathlon for their official uniform and Ayala Land as the venue partner.
